What This Covers
This Cookie Policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on pocket-elf.com and in the Pocket Elf web app, why we use them, and the choices available to you. It supplements our Privacy Policy and should be read alongside it.
What Cookies and Similar Technologies Are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device to remember information between visits. "Similar technologies" include local and session storage in your browser, mobile SDKs, and device- or app-level identifiers used for the same purposes. This policy covers all of these, on both the website and the app, even where "cookie" is not the technically precise term (for example, the app uses local device storage and a push token rather than browser cookies).
Cookies and Technologies We Use
Strictly necessary. These support core functions and cannot be disabled without breaking the Service:
Session/authentication keeps you signed in for the duration of your visit or between visits if you choose "stay signed in."
Security helps detect and prevent fraud, credential-stuffing, and abuse of login and signup forms.
Load balancing routes your request to the correct server; contains no personal information.
Functional. Remembers display and account preferences you set (e.g., theme, list sort order). Disabling these via your browser makes the site less convenient but does not block access.
Analytics. Google Analytics (GA4), configured with Google Signals disabled, ad personalization disabled, and data-sharing with Google's own products restricted see Section 6 of our Privacy Policy for the underlying commitment this configuration exists to support.
Advertising Identifiers and Cross-Site Tracking
Pocket Elf does not use advertising identifiers or third-party advertising cookies, and does not track your activity across other companies' websites or apps. Because we do not engage in this kind of tracking, there is nothing to ask your permission for. If this changes in the future, we will ask for consent and update this section before doing so.
What We Do Not Use
We do not use advertising or cross-site/cross-app tracking cookies or identifiers. We do not use cookies or similar technology for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell or share personal information collected through cookies or similar technology, as those terms are defined under state privacy law. This is an active configuration we maintain (Section 3), not a default we happen to have.
Your Choices
Because we do not use advertising cookies, there is no "accept/reject" consent banner on this site there is no optional category to consent to. You can still control cookies at any time through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them; outside of strictly necessary cookies, this will not affect core functionality. We recognize the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a valid opt-out preference where required by law. For browsers that send a legacy "Do Not Track" signal, we do not currently respond to it separately, because absent any advertising or cross-context tracking there is no tracking for it to opt out of; our GPC and CCPA opt-out commitments in Section 5 apply regardless of this signal.
Minors
Consistent with our Terms of Use, users aged 13–17 access the Service only through a parent- or guardian-controlled account. We do not serve targeted advertising to any user, and this applies without exception to known minors, consistent with state laws that require a default opt-out of targeted advertising for users under 18.
Third Parties
Google LLC processes analytics data on our behalf under contract and is contractually and technically restricted from using it for Google's own advertising purposes, per our configuration in Section 3. Our app store payment processing (Apple App Store / Google Play) does not involve cookies on our site or in our app subscriptions are handled entirely within the relevant app store.
How Long They Last
Strictly necessary cookies expire at the end of your session or within 12 months. Google Analytics identifiers expire within 14 months, per our configured retention setting.
Changes
If we introduce a new category of tracking technology including any advertising, cross-site, or cross-context tracking we will update this policy and, if required by law, provide notice or an opt-out before it takes effect.
